The right for education

These are portraits of the founder of Kristiania University College, Ernst G. Mortensen, and the school’s first student, Hanna Nilsen. Mortenes often used the phrase ”Knowledge is power,” originally said by Francis Bacon. Hence why the base of this portait is a painting of Francis Bacon.

The second portrait is of Marie Curie and Hanna Nilsen. Marie Curie was the first female Nobel Prize winner in science. Both amazing female figures in the fight for education for women.

“Kunnskap er makt” (knowledge is power)              “Utdanning for alle” (Education for everyone)
